Liverpool: Fans impressed as footage of Jake Cain emerges

Liverpool U23s snubbed bitter rivals Everton in the reserves league onÂSunday thanks to a goal from Jake Cain.

The 19-year-old grabbed the only goal of the match after firing a lovely low-driven ball into the net past goalkeeper Harry Tyrer.

Cain played alongside fellow youngsters who have dabbled in the senior squad, including the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher in goal and Ben Woodburn, whose Liverpool future is currently hanging in the balance.

The official LFC Twitter account has uploaded footage of Cain’s goal and praised him for his match-winning display. Loads of Reds fans have similarly flocked to the comments to congratulate him on his performance.

One supporter has managed only to tweet ‘wow’ in reaction to his goal whilst another has said ‘Firmino could never’.

The Brazilian forward has played more of a backseat role as of late when it comes to goalscoring. Whilst his work ethic cannot be faulted, Roberto Firmino scored just 12 goals in 52 appearances last season, which is an unusually low number for a No.9 (via Transfermarkt).

Ashton Gate Stadium

Key Information about Ashton Gate Stadium

Ashton Gate Stadium has been the home of Bristol City Football Club since 1900. It was formerly the home of Bedminster FC before their merge with Bristol South End who previously played at St John’s Lane.

The Championship ground has an all-seater capacity of 27,000 and comprises four famous stands, the Lansdown Stand, the Dolman Stand, the Atyeo Stand, and the South Stand, which unlike the other stands it is not named after a figure who had strong ties with the South West England club.

A history of Ashton Gate Stadium

The four stands were redeveloped during different years since Ashton Gate Stadium opened over 100 years ago. The oldest redeveloped stand was the Doman Stand which was built in 1970 which makes it the oldest stand at the ground. At the time of construction, it had a family enclosed zone which stood in front of the stand; however, this was later rebuilt and converted to seating. The original wooden seats in the upper tier of the stand were replaced with modern plastic seats in 2007, and further enhanced during the summer of 2015 as part of a whole stadium redevelopment.

The stand is named after the former club chairman and president Harry Dolman. The Atyeo Stand is the smallest stand at Ashton Gate Stadium with a capacity of just 4,200, though it was built in 1994 to replace an open terrace. It still contains the old dressing rooms and a gym for players to use in training. This stand is named after Bristol City legend and all-time top goalscorer John Atyeo who played well over 600 games for City, scoring an incredible 351 goals. Atyeo sadly passed away a year before the new stand was opened, and it was subsequently named in his honour. Ahead of the 2017-18 season, the Atyeo Stand was made available to away fans, and it is closed for Rugby Union matches played by Bristol Bears who have ground-shared since 2014.

Bristol City commenced major redevelopment of Ashton Gate Stadium in late 2013, with work being carried out the following spring. This included the demolition of the existing Williams and Wedlock stands, to be replaced with new modern stands (south). In addition to this, the extension of the Dolan stand was permitted as well as a new pitch that was laid to enable shared use with Bristol Bears rugby club. The redevelopment was completed ahead of the 2016-17 season.

Tickets to Watch Bristol City at Ashton Gate Stadium

Adult tickets for members of the Bristol City can purchase a single matchday ticket from £20-32 depending on which stand is desired. Seniors and under-25s can go from £17-29, under-22s from £14-26, under-19s from £10-16, and under-12s for just £5. Adult season tickets for next season range from £366-636, and under-12s can go the entire season for just £55.

Tottenham Hotspur: Club provides Son Heung-min update which will excite Spurs fans

Tottenham Hotspur shared a photo of Son Heung-min as the first team returned to the Hotspur Way training ground ahead of a possible Premier League restart.

Earlier this month, Son reunited with his teammates after completing mandatory military service in South Korea with flying colours (Daily Mail). Players have been training together in small groups as the English top flight kicked off with phase one of Project Restart (Evening Standard).

The club’s official Instagram account uploaded an image of the forward enjoying himself during a team exercise. Eagle-eyed fans will no doubt spot that his hair has grown back quickly, while many commented they are delighted to see him smiling.

The 27-year-old is the second-highest goalscorer for Spurs this season, one goal behind star striker Harry Kane, although he has produced more assists than the England international so far (BBC).

He has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League, taking three shots per game, averaging 1.4 key passes and making 2.3 dribbles per match (via WhoScored).

Jose Mourinho’s side are currently eighth in the Premier League, two points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers, four points away from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United and one point clear of bitter rivals Arsenal.

If the South Korean can rediscover his goalscoring form, his return could make a massive difference for Spurs as the north London club seek to charge up the table when football finally resumes.

Liverpool fans praise Alisson Becker for efforts vs Manchester City

Lots of Liverpool fans have been praising Alisson Becker on social media for his efforts against Manchester City, as the Reds beat their Premier League title rival 3-1 to strengthen their control on the division.

Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield natives are now eight points clear at the top of the table to Leicester City and Chelsea, after extending their unbeaten run by defeating the reigning champions through goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Manchester City fell to fourth in the standings after suffering their third defeat of the season, with Bernardo Silva’s 78th-minute strike unable to inspire a comeback on Merseyside.

Alisson was called into action throughout the game to ensure Liverpool emerged victorious on Sunday, as the 42-cap Brazil international recorded two saves, one collection, one parry and claimed possession twice, per WhoScored data.

He also spent more time in possession than all but four of the Citizens’ players, with Alisson recording a 5.7 per cent control of the football, with which he took 64 touches and played a total of 36 accurate passes from 47 attempts.

The 27-year-old’s clearance in the 38th-minute also sparked a Reds attack, which ended in Pep Guardiola needing Claudio Bravo to deny Roberto Firmino after Trent Alexander-Arnold controlled Alisson’s pass with a delightful touch.

Here are some of the messages shared on Alisson’s performance vs Manchester City…

Sheffield Wednesday fans hope Cameron Dawson stays at the club

Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to bounce back from just the second defeat of Garry Monk’s tenure this weekend when they host Swansea City at Hillsborough.

The Owls have had to deal with the absence of several key players in recent matches, most notably last time out when Barry Bannan was a shock exclusion in the heart of midfield.

Often this campaign, players have stepped up to the mark to fill any glaring gaps left behind by injury, such as Sam Hutchinson deputising in Julian Borner’s absence during their 0-0 draw with Leeds United.

The same goes for Cameron Dawson, who has managed four clean sheets in five appearances this season – when called upon.

Yet, The Star report he could well be on his way out of the club as Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, and Rangers are all monitoring his situation.

The 24-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and as the backup to Keiren Westwood, Wednesday could well lose him, which hasn’t gone down too well with some sections of the Owls faithful.

One supporter claimed the club would regret losing him in the future while another begged them to tie him down to an extension as soon as possible.

A further member of the Hillsborough crowd believes he has the potential to be better than Westwood with the right coaching, with one more describing his future as ‘very bright.’

Here’s the best of the reaction:

Real Madrid fans are gushing over Thibaut Courtois on Twitter

It’s not often that we see Real Madrid fans praising and gushing over Thibaut Courtois.

Generally speaking, the 27-year-old Belgian goalkeeper has been one of the main targets of harsh criticism due to his sub-par performances but if Los Blancos’ last game against Galatasaray, a 1-0 victory, is any indication, that may be about to change.

After all, it was Courtois who made three crucial saves throughout the night to keep Real from conceding a goal and dropping their lead.

In the end, they took the all-important three points that will keep them afloat in the competition.

At least for now, that is.

And shortly after the clash, loads of Madridistas swarmed social media and Twitter with genuine praise for their man between the sticks, showering him with compliments, applauding his display and generally supporting him.

You can see some of their reactions and replies down in the collection of tweets below.

Real Madrid should start Rodrygo instead of the injured Gareth Bale this weekend

This article is part of Football FanCast’s The Chalkboard series, which provides a tactical insight into teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

The international break is now behind us and that means that the club football is finally making a return. Real Madrid will travel to Mallorca this weekend but if the latest reports coming out of AS are true, Gareth Bale won’t be included in the squad. This could open the door for Rodrygo to feature again.

On the chalkboard

By this point, we all know about Bale and his uncanny injury history.

Throughout the years, apart from showcasing his obvious qualities from time to time, the 30-year-old Welshman has also become quite notorious for his unlucky injury woes.

Watch Spanish Football Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Just last season, he suffered from five different issues and was sidelined for a total of nine games. But even though that doesn’t sound like a lot, what’s more concerning is the fact that Bale gets injured almost every single season.

Still, despite that being mostly bad news for Los Blancos, a certain 18-year-old prodigy might get another taste of some first-team action due to Bale’s most recent problem, suffered during the international break.

A silver lining

Rodrygo is one of those talents that we know has the potential for big things but he just hasn’t been able to demonstrate it on the big stage yet.

But when he has played, the 18-year-old Brazilian has impressed.

Watch Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale answer the internet’s weirdest questions in the video below…

He made his season debut against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu and managed to score a brilliant goal in the 19 minutes he spent on the pitch for the Galacticos.

Real Madrid ended up winning that game 2-0 but Rodrygo has since been left out of the first-team mix, spending time either on the bench or with the B team.

However, Bale’s reported injury means there’s a free slot on that right side, and the Brazilian, although he’s primarily a left-winger, can slot into that position when needed as well.

After all, Transfermarkt do have him marked down as a right-winger in four games in their database and he even managed to bag one assist in one of those games too.

Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Zinedine Zidane to give the kid a chance considering rotation would be advisable with a tough week ahead – Barcelona await next weekend – and Mallorca’s poor run of form so far in the season.

Who knows, maybe he can surprise everyone once again and help Real find a silver lining to Bale’s latest injury.

It’s definitely worth a shot.
