The two times Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan had batted together against Sri Lanka before, they had added 130 and 100. Today, they improved that stat further with a 218-run stand for the fourth wicket that flattened Sri Lanka after an encouraging start, and gave Pakistan a solid first-innings lead. The partnership came at a crucial juncture when the game was in the balance and ensured Pakistan took a firm grip of the Abu Dhabi Test. During its course, Younis drew level with Javed Miandad by scoring his 23rd century – his sixth against Sri Lanka – while Misbah, unbeaten at the end of the second day, crossed the 100-mark for the fifth time in Tests.Sri Lanka had a 121-run buffer when Pakistan’s third wicket fell and with run rate taking a dip just before lunch, a wicket or two would have given Sri Lanka a chance to limit Pakistan. However, just as the lunch interval transformed the Pakistan bowlers on the first day, it had a transformational effect on their batsmen today.Pakistan’s two most experienced batsmen had scored 38 in 15.4 overs before lunch in a typically slow and solid manner, but switched gears in the second session to add 130 runs in 33 overs. It pepped up a crawling innings to an energetic rate of 3.17 at tea. Younis served the first statement of intent, punching a length delivery firmly, and in the air, through mid-off in the second over after lunch. Misbah followed suit soon, forcefully driving Sachithra Senanayake through wide mid-on.Soon Pakistan crossed 150 and Sri Lanka brought Rangana Herath back. It was to no avail as Younis used his feet smartly – either to move forward or to move deep into the crease – to disturb the bowler’s lines. At the other end, Suranga Lakmal kept leaking runs: First, he was hit for consecutive boundaries by Misbah, then two overs later, for two more by Younis, the second four bringing up the batsman’s half-century.Sri Lanka then followed up with spin at both ends, but that only resulted in more runs as neither spinner was allowed to settle. Pakistan made a quick dash towards the Sri Lankan score of 204 and went past it in the 65th over when Younis launched Herath for a six and four off consecutive deliveries. Younis, who had been keeping pace with Misbah before the strikes, took a lead and zoomed ahead, using the sweep and the cut shot to manoeuvre the ball. Three overs before tea, he carved Herath for another boundary through covers to bring up his century.On a pitch that exposed Sri Lanka’s bowling frailties – even Herath appeared bereft of ideas, eroding the little successes they had in the morning session – the new-ball was the last chance to make a comeback, and that finally fetched them Younis’ wicket as he chopped a Shaminda Eranga delivery on. Younis, however, played the shot of the day shortly before his dismissal: a length delivery from Eranga was punched through covers, Younis had both his feet in air when he made contact with the ball and they continued to rise after. The shot was all about the force of the body recoil. And some talk about balance. Younis, who has now most runs in the UAE and the second most against Sri Lanka behind Sachin Tendulkar, continued to flourish till he got one from Eranga to cut in from a length and take the inside edge.Misbah dragged his excellent run of 2013 to the new year and kept the pace up in the first half of his innings, even using the reverse sweep a few times, before shutting shop in the second half. He moved to 50 in 100 balls, then to 70 in 140 balls, but dawdled towards his century taking 101 balls for the last 30 runs. On a benign pitch, however, he remained immoveable. During the early part of his stand with Younis, Misbah remained sprightly, finding boundaries whenever a loose ball came through. He is 41 runs from the 3000-run mark and will eye the landmark as Pakistan look to convert the lead into a match-winning one on the third day.The Sri Lanka bowlers worked hard all day, but in good batting conditions, they lacked bite to trouble the batsmen. Herath, the leader of the pack, toiled tirelessly for 31 overs, but never looked threatening. Senanayake, the other spinner, had a disappointing outing bowling his 18 overs for 66 runs. Sri Lanka had their moments early in the day though. In the first hour of the day, Kaushal Silva had dived full-length and low to his left to pluck a stunning catch to dismiss the in-form Mohammad Hafeez early in the day, while Ahmed Shehzad was forced into playing a tame pull by a perfect bouncer from Eranga. On the third day, the tired Sri Lanka players will have to reproduce some of that spark to limit the damage.

The idea that patience is rewarded was reinforced on the opening day at Lord’s. As Rory Burns batted almost the entire day for a second Championship hundred in three matches, those of the 2,000-odd crowd that hung on till stumps were treated to an entertaining cameo from Vikram Solanki and some neat touch-play from Steven Davies. But for those early deserters, their reasons could not be faulted.In an episode of “The Simpsons” Bart and Lisa, in the midst of an argument, decide that violence is the only answer. In an attempt to exonerate themselves from blame, they both decide to wave their arms (Bart) and kick their legs (Lisa), and inch toward the other in a bid to inflict pain yet no shoulder any of the blame. “If you get hit, it’s your own fault”.That scene came to mind watching the first two sessions; neither Middlesex nor Surrey could be blamed for the scoreboard lethargy but they were both aware that they’d reached an agreed impasse as the run-rate ambled along at under two an over up till tea. The collective hundred took 312 balls and only a fraction of those caused the Surrey batsmen any discomfort. One took a wicket – Graeme Smith nicking off to Tim Murtagh for a duck – but for a large proportion of the game that was Middlesex’s lot as their bowlers erred on the side of cautious attack.The majority of their good work came from Murtagh, whose opening spell from the Nursery End was good enough to suggest Smith’s decision to have first go on a sun-kissed Lord’s wouldn’t be a formality. Hindsight suggests nothing less, but Murtagh beat the outside edge of all three of Surrey’s southpaws at the top of their order with a consistent length and just enough seam movement. His was the only genuine threat in a first session that saw the home side use six bowlers, including the part-time offspin of Paul Stirling on Championship debut.Luckily I didn’t get lost – Burns

A hundred in his maiden innings at the Home of Cricket, it wasn’t just the pitch that tested the nerve of Rory Burns.

“It was a bit weird walking through the Long Room and having people just roaming around. It’s definitely the longest walk from changing room to pitch; luckily I had Smithy with me so I didn’t get lost.”

“It wasn’t a wicket that I ever completely felt ‘in’ on – it was just a case of getting gritty and getting down to business. Just look at the amount of balls I took; the pitch was giving tennis-ball bounce and it was hard work, especially when the ball got soft.”

And, despite his start to the season, Burns did not feel great. “I don’t feel in form. I certainly feel like there have been other times when I’ve batted better and more fluently, but I think results wise I’d say I’m in good form.”

The pitch was flat but Steven Finn and Toby Roland-Jones’ line allowed opener Burns and Arun Harinath to leave comfortably; Harinath in particular benefitting from an hour-long period at the beginning of his innings which asked nothing of him but watchfulness. He brought up his fifty soon after Burns but was out carelessly flashing at a wide ball from Finn. The England quick has had better days on the field but his pace picked up as the hours went on, but the more cynical of Middlesex fans would say he was just going through the motions. Meanwhile it was a day of slog for Roland-Jones – after a profitable start to the season – as he went wicketless.The spoils of the day went, undoubtedly, to Burns for a second century in three Championship matches. He may be boyish in age and aesthetics but his reading of certain passages within each session spoke volumes about his batting nous. When Finn and Roland-Jones pushed him onto the back foot he went with it and did some of his best work from there; a thump through midwicket on his tip-toes a particularly pleasing riposte to a Roland-Jones bumper.He had a brace of reprieves – John Simpson put down a tough chance off the glove for a slack attempt at a hook and Sam Robson missed a fairly simple run-out from gully – but he didn’t dwell on them. Instead, he remained purposeful and calm.The presence of Solanki would have reassured Burns as he made his way through the nineties, not least because of the former’s strokeplay. Solanki hit seven fours, three of them coming in one Murtagh over, who was a shadow or his early-morning self. But he was rewarded for his earlier toil with a second wicket late in proceedings, as Burns played him onto his stumps trying to drive on the up, bringing to close a near six-hour display of serene toil.

ولكن بعد 5 دقائق، عاد فريق البنك الأهلي ليسجل الهدف الثالث عن طريق لاعبه أسامة فيصل الذي استلم الكرة داخل منطقة الجزاء وراوغ الدفاع وسدد في المرمى.

وقال جوارديولا: “مباراة مهمة حقًا، نريد الحصول على النقاط كاملة، تركيزنا على ما يتعين علينا القيام به، لعبنا مرتين هذا الموسم وفي الماضي أيضًا، لقد كانت مباراة صعبة للغاية، مباراة مهمة لكنها ليست حاسمة، هناك الكثير من المباريات الصعبة لكلا الفريقين، ولكن لا يمكننا إنكار مدى أهميتها”.

وعن تطور النادي اللندني مع أرتيتا، قال: “أعتقد أن تطور النادي منذ تولي ميكيل أمر واضح، أنا مدرب، ومدرب كرة قدم، ولست مديرًا، لكن لدي شعور بأن ميكيل قد غير موقف النادي، دعّم من التسلسل الهرمي للنادي وهذا هو سبب النجاح”.

وزاد: “لقد كان الحديث دائما عن المراكز الستة الأولى، ولكنها الآن ستكون ضمن الثمانية الأوائل الذين يتنافسون على القمة لأن نيوكاسل موجود الآن”.

وعن فريق مانشستر سيتي والأداء الحالي: “الكمال غير موجود في كرة القدم، لا يمكنك أن تكون مثاليًا وتفوز بالمباراة، نحن نعلم ما حدث مع بايرن ميونخ (الخروج أمام مانشستر سيتي) وما سيحدث في المستقبل يجب أن يكون مستواك مرتفعًا جدًا لأن الفرق تطلب منك أن تكون جيدًا حقًا، سنحاول فرض أسلوبنا”.

Levando em conta os dias quitados por tempo trabalhado e estudo dentro do presídio, a Justiçada cidade de Varginha (MG) atualizou o atestado de pena do goleiro Bruno. Com a mudança, o ex-jogador pode deixar a prisão ainda no mês de outubro: a partir do dia 13, ele poderá pedir progressão de pena para o regime semiaberto domiciliar. No momento, ele está preso na Associação de Proteção e Assistência aos Condenados (Apac), na cidade de Santa Luzia, em Minas Gerais.

O juiz Tarcisio Moreira de Souza, da 1ª Vara Criminal e de Execuções Penais da Comarca de Varginha, foi o responsável pela assinatura da atualização do atestado. Advogado de Bruno, Fábio Gama explicou que o pedido de progressão não é concedido imediatamente, já que ainda terá que passar por análise do Ministério Público.

– Agora eu vou ter que aguardar o dia 13 para fazer o pedido de progressão ao regime semiaberto. Na sequência, colher o parecer do Ministério Público, para depois o juiz poder determinar a expedição do alvará de soltura dele – explicou o advogado.

Caso a progressão da pena de Bruno seja aceita, o goleiro passará a dormir em sua própria casa – a cidade de Varginha não possui instalações para onde os detentos possam ir apenas para dormir. Na prática, é como se ele estivesse cumprindo sua pena em regime aberto.

Em 2017, o jogador (que pretende retomar sua carreira no esporte) foi solto em fevereiro após liminar do ministro Marco Aurélio Mello, do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF). Everton Felipe avisou à diretoria do Sport que gostaria de se transferir para o São Paulo, o que fez as negociações acelerarem nos últimos dias. Segundo Ricardo Rocha, o diretor de futebol Raí tem participação importante nisso.

– O Raí é fundamental em muitas coisas, inclusive a vinda de jogadores. Quando o Raí aparece, as coisas mudam. Foi assim comigo. Eu estou no São Paulo hoje pelo projeto que ele me mostrou.Essa semana eu tive uma conversa com o Bruno Peres e ele me falou: “Ricardo, eu tinha outras coisas, mas quando o Raí me mostrou o projeto, o que ele pensa, eu quis jogar no São Paulo”. É isso que a gente quer, jogadores que entrem de frente, que não entrem de costas para saírem de frente, que não tenham pressa para sair do São Paulo. E isso a gente está resgatando. Tem muito trabalho pela frente ainda, mas eu acho isso tudo muito legal – emendou.

Everton Felipe, 21 anos, assinará nesta quarta-feira um contrato de empréstimo válido até o fim de 2019, mas já há um acordo para que ele tenha 40% dos direitos econômicos comprados em janeiro e fique por quatro temporadas no Morumbi. O Tricolor pagará R$ 3 milhões agora e mais R$ 3 milhões no ano que vem, além de repassar o empréstimo de Morato ao Leão.

-Ele cai como uma luva no que a gente pensa. Se você pegar as nossas contratações, vieram muitos jogadores com experiência, de 28, 29 anos. A gente tem conversado, o presidente, o Raí, eu, o Lugano e o próprio Aguirre… Está na hora de a gente começar a pensar em contratações de jogadores mais jovens também. Jogadores novos que venham e conheçam o que é o São Paulo, o espírito do São Paulo, e isso está acontecendo. Eu estava conversando uma vez com um dirigente do Barcelona e ele falou: “Ricardo, a gente trabalha muito com a base, mas a gente olha muito para Sevilla, Valencia…”. Por que? Porque nesses clubes você pode encontrar jogadores bons também – explicou Ricardo, antes de salientar que o foco principal, quando se trata de garotos, é Cotia.
