Fast improving Warwickshire registered their third Friends Life t20 victory in a row when beating Midlands/Wales/West group leaders Northamptonshire by three wickets at Edgbaston.For a long time it seemed that Northamptonshire’s flimsy-looking total of 111 might be too good for Warwickshire as a tense, low-scoring contest unfolded on a sluggish pitch.David Willey put them on the back foot with wickets from the last two balls of the third over and they were seriously wobbling when William Porterfield was caught on the boundary off Steven Crook.It took the experience of Rikki Clarke – and one bad over – to keep them in contention. Clarke targeted offspinner Matthew Spriegel for three sixes in four balls, twice clearing long-off before lining up a much bigger hit to long-on.Although Willey came back to have Clarke caught at long on for 36, Northamptonshire had run out of seam options when Spriegel had to bowl the last two overs from the pavilion end. That proved to be decisive when Jeetan Patel, a player who thrives on spin bowling, smashed a six over midwicket with three balls to spare.Northamptonshire’s earlier struggle was largely caused Steffan Piolet, first with a brilliant piece of fielding and then with a spell of 3 for 24, a personal-best return in the competition.The 24-year-old all-rounder ran out Cameron White with a direct hit from mid-on when the Australian was backing up at the non-striker’s end. This meant Northamptonshire had lost their two overseas players from the first 15 balls. South African Richard Levi’s off stump was sent spinning by Clarke’s first delivery and the initial six-over power play yielded only 29 runs.A minor recovery was under way before Piolet intervened by taking his three wickets in 10 balls. The dangerous Crook holed out to long off and in the medium pacer’s last over, top scorer Kyle Coetzer fell at mid-wicket and Willey made too much room when he was bowled.Willey targeted the shortest boundary at long on for three of the five sixes in the innings but on a difficult surface for batsmen Northants were able to hit only three fours.

Sales’ sensational knock of 255 not out off 279 balls was the third-highest score of his career as Northants eventually declared on 567 for 4, giving them a first-innings lead of 209.Andrew Hall also contributed an unbeaten 55 off 106 deliveries and Gloucestershire then closed on 31 without loss, but with a flat wicket and a poor weather forecast for tomorrow, a draw now looks to be inevitable.Northants began the day on 369 for 3, 11 runs ahead of their opponents, with Sales resuming on 126 and Australia international Cameron White on 6. However, rain began to fall 10 minutes before the players were due out, which led to the entire morning session being wiped out and 33 overs being lost as play finally started at 2.15pm.White was to then add 10 runs to his overnight total before he smashed Craig Miles to Benny Howell at deep midwicket in the fifth over of the day. It was the first time he had struck 200 since August 2007, when he made 219 against Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay, and it helped the hosts to 493 for 4 at tea, with their lead now 135.Gloucestershire still could not break apart the partnership in the evening as Sales reached 250 off 270 balls just before Hall completed his half-century off 102 deliveries. Northants captain Stephen Peters then waved his players off halfway through the 143rd over, leaving Gloucestershire to face 16 overs before the close of play.Only two were possible before the umpires stopped play for bad light but thankfully the players were back out 10 minutes later with two more overs lost. Within three balls of the restart, Chris Dent was given a reprieve as he was dropped on 2 by James Middlebrook at third slip off the bowling of David Willey. He was to then last until stumps alongside his captain Michael Klinger and they will resume on Monday on 10 and 21 respectively.

أنهى منتخب مصر للشباب لكرة السلة، مشاركته في كأس العالم تحت 19 عامًا، بالفوز على منتخب مدغشقر بنتيجة 104-64، ليختتم مشواره في البطولة في المركز الثالث عشر.

والتقى منتخب مصر بنظيره منتخب مدغشقر صباح اليوم الأحد، في مباراة تحديد صاحب المركز الثالث عشر والرابع عشر، في كأس العالم للشباب والمقامة حاليًا في المجر.

وسيطر منتخب مصر على المباراة منذ بدايتها، حيث أنهى الفترة الأولى متقدمًا بنتيجة 27-11، قبل أن يُنهي الفترة الثانية متفوقًا بنتيجة 59-30، وواصل تقدمه في الفترة الثالثة التي أنهاها لصالحه بنتيجة 87-49، قبل أن يُنهي الفترة الرابعة والمباراة لصالحه بنتيجة 104-64.

وكان بلال عبد المطلب هو أفضل لاعبي منتخب مصر من حيث الفاعلية، حيث أنه نجح في تسجيل 24 نقطة، وقدم 6 تمريرات حاسمة، فضلًا عن نجاحه في استعادة الكرة 4 مرات.

بهذه النتيجة يكون منتخب مصر قد أنهى مشاركته في كأس العالم للشباب تحت 19 عامًا في المركز الثالث عشر.

A Twenty20 tour match will also be played, in Hove.Sri Lanka had played two first-class warm-up matches in their last tour to England, in 2011, ahead of the series they lost 1-0.The ECB moved Sri Lanka’s Tests to mid-June in order to avoid a clash with the IPL, but that reshuffle, and the abundance of cricket in England next summer, does not allow for a lengthy warm-up period. After Sri Lanka’s two-Test series, India play five Tests in the UK.In 2014, they will arrive in England without having played a Test match outside Asia in the last 16 months. However, Sri Lanka will have played five ODIs and a Twenty20 international in the UK before the Tests begin.Sri Lanka are set to arrive in England on May 9.
