Chelsea still keen on signing Bellingham

Chelsea are still interested in making a move for Borussia Dortmund and England ace Jude Bellingham this summer, according to journalist Matt Law.

The Lowdown: Bellingham Europe’s most wanted

The England international is one of the world’s most sought-after players at the moment, having produced a string of influential performances for club and country.

Bellingham is already a star man for Dortmund but he looks likely to leave this summer and Chelsea have been linked with a big-money swoop for him.

The Blues face plenty of competition for the 19-year-old’s services, however, with a number of their Premier League rivals keen on snapping him up.

The Latest: Chelsea still keen on signing

According to The Telegraph‘s Law, Chelsea are still keen on signing Bellingham in the summer, despite landing Enzo Fernandez in January.

The Blues are accepting that they are not necessarily the favourites to get their man, however, with others in front of them in the pecking order currently.

The Verdict: Game-changing addition

Bellingham could be a sensational signing for Chelsea if they managed to entice him to Stamford Bridge, with few players on the planet possessing more potential right now.

At 19, he has already won 22 caps for England and made 119 appearances for Dortmund, being described as a ‘superstar’ by Manchester United legend Roy Keane.

Bellingham could help transform Chelsea’s midfield, dovetailing beautifully with the similarly prodigious Fernandez and forming a world-class midfield for many years.

Despite his tender years, the Dortmund maestro already looks like a complete midfielder, averaging 3.2 tackles per game for England at the 2022 World Cup and also scoring ten times for his club side this term, in all competitions.

Spurs could repeat Dembele masterclass by signing Fulham gem

Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Fabio Paratici will undoubtedly already be plotting to strengthen the current squad this summer, with the Lilywhites still arguably in need of fresh faces if they are to truly contend for major honours moving forward.

A particular problem for the north London outfit has been the continued reliance on talisman Harry Kane, with the England skipper the only player to reach double figures (20) for goals this season in all competitions, with the likes of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski only scoring two goals apiece.

With Antonio Conte’s side seemingly crying out for further firepower to help bolster the forward line, recent reports have suggested that the club could be targetting a move for Fulham star, Manor Solomon.

What’s the latest on Manor Solomon to Spurs?

According to major Israeli outlet Y Net, both Spurs and bitter rivals Arsenal are currently ‘monitoring’ the 23-year-old’s development at Craven Cottage, with the Israeli international having joined the newly-promoted side on loan last summer from Shakhtar Donetsk, amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The report does suggest that the player himself is keen on a permanent stay with Marco Silva’s side at the end of the season, although the interest from the north London duo could prove a spanner in the works for the Cottagers’ hopes of striking a deal.

Could Solomon be Tottenham’s next Mousa Dembele?

Those back at N17 will no doubt remember a previous figure who arrived at the club after starring for Fulham in the form of midfield magician, Mousa Dembele, with the silky Belgian having signed for Spurs back in the summer of 2012, after two years in west London.

The now-retired colossus would go on to emerge as a leading figure for Tottenham over the next few years, eventually going on to score ten goals and provide 12 assists in 249 games in all competitions, prior to his exit in 2019.

Despite perhaps not always receiving wider acclaim for his quality, Dembele was certainly loved by those within the club, having notably been described as a “genius” by former boss Mauricio Pochettino back in 2017.

The playmaker’s ex-teammates also remain hugely complementary about his unique gifts, with current Newcastle United man Kieran Trippier having stated earlier this month:

“He’s an absolute magician. Just absolutely frightening, with the ball, without the ball. He had everything. He had absolutely everything.”

Having proven a particularly astute signing after arriving at the club just over a decade ago, the hope will be that chairman Daniel Levy can replicate that masterclass by bringing Solomon to the club this summer, with the 5 foot 7 ace having showcased his quality in recent weeks.

Despite having missed much of the campaign through injury, the 31-cap speedster – who is valued at around €12.5m (£11m), according to Football Transfers – has since scored three goals in his last three league games, including a stunning, curling effort in the recent draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That impressive hot streak has seen the wide man lauded as a “game-changer” by The Athletic’s Peter Rutzler, with Solomon also previously demonstrating his attacking quality after providing 31 goals and assists in 106 games for his parent club.

Although Paratici may wish to see more from the impressive dynamo before he opts to make a move, on recent evidence the winger could go on be the next surprise star for the club, much like Dembele proved to be.

Celtic: Carter-Vickers ‘not going anywhere’

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is ‘not going anywhere’ this summer, according to pundit Frank McAvennie.

The Lowdown: CCV being monitored

The Hoops centre-back made the permanent move to the Scottish Premiership from Tottenham Hotspur back in July 2022, with his contract not set to expire until 2026.

The American international attracted interest from Newcastle United, Southampton and Fulham last summer after an impressive season on loan, but he instead decided to continue his stay at Parkhead.

Fabrizio Romano has since reported that several Premier League clubs are weighing up a move for the 25-year-old at the end of the current term.

The Latest: McAvennie’s verdict

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie, Celtic’s former striker, insisted that Carter-Vickers won’t be thinking about an exit. He said:

“He is not going anywhere.

“I think he is enjoying himself. He has had his time down there. He will have learned so much at Celtic and I think if he goes back down he will be a better player.

“If I was a team I would want Hatate. There are some quality players in the Celtic team at the moment. It is good that the players and the manager are getting touted everywhere, it means that you are doing your job.

“That is all it does mean. Until somebody comes in with the hard cash then we will not know.“

The Verdict: Keep hold of him

Carter-Vickers has featured in 76 of Ange Postecoglou’s 98 games in charge, showing how much of an integral squad member he is, so the boss simply has to keep hold of him.

The 6 foot star currently averages 3.6 aerial wins and 3.2 clearances per league game, alongside recording an impressive 92% pass success rate (WhoScored).

The Southend-on-Sea-born talent is also a threat in the final third, having scored four goals and provided two assists during his time north of the border (Transfermarkt).

Carter-Vickers has been dubbed a ‘beast’ by former Spurs teammate Jan Vertonghen and he will undoubtedly continue to be a rock in the heart of the defence for many more years to come.

Newcastle fans buzzing amid Dusan Vlahovic transfer links

Newcastle United fans have reacted online with much excitement after learning that their club is linked with a big summer transfer move for Dusan Vlahovic.

What’s the latest on Dusan Vlahovic to Newcastle?

Due to the Premier League club’s wealthy owners, the Magpies can now attract some of Europe’s top talents, as proven by recent deals for Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman.

And so, when this season ends and the summer window opens, you can expect Eddie Howe and co to spend big and add some real quality to the Newcastle United ranks.

One name already being touted as an option is Juventus striker Vlahovic. Indeed, as per reports in Catalan media, the Toon are willing to pay €75m (£66.7m) for the player in the next transfer market.

Seeing as the Serbia international turned down the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham to join Juve for £66.6m in January 2022, it would be a bit of a shock to see him end up at Newcastle just 18 months later.

But with 19 goals in 45 games, he’s been impressive but not necessarily brilliant and with the Serie A giants caught in plenty of off-field controversies, perhaps a sale could suit both teams.

Either way, amid these links, the Newcastle faithful seem excited. Here ate some of the best reactions…

‘Stupid’, ‘Please no’ - Man Utd fans fume at ’embarrassing’ exit news

A number of Manchester United supporters have been left unimpressed at a transfer update involving young winger Facundo Pellistri.

The Lowdown: Possible loan move

Pellistri is just 21 years of age and has been on the books at Old Trafford since 2020 after joining from Uruguayan side Penarol in an €8.5m deal.

The right winger has 10 senior caps to his name for Uruguay but has had to remain patient for his chance for the Red Devils. He was sent out on loan to Spanish side Alaves, where he made 35 appearances but has featured just six times under Erik ten Hag this season, playing just over 100 minutes of action.

Pellistri seemed to impress in a brief cameo appearance against Real Betis last week, with both Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves praising the youngster, however, Samuel Luckhurst has reported that those at Old Trafford are prepared to send the winger out on loan in the summer.

The Latest: Fans react

Luckhurst’s update regarding Pellistri had a number of United supporters talking on Twitter. Many were not happy at the news, with one even labelling it as ’embarrassing’.

“Please no he’s phenomenal” – @Arctic_GB

“Wasting his career, just sell him with a 2 year option to buy if he performs. Embarrassing” – @UTDJolloF

“This would be one of the worst decisions ever made if true!!” – @melophile_me

“Stupid decision if true, Pellestri and Garnacho offered more than Anthony and Sancho. We need competition for places especially on that right side not less competition.” – @manutdirishreds

“That would be a big mistake…” – @1Thecoach

“A silly decision if true. We need all different qualities and effectiveness we can muster to bring variety into our play. Couldn’t they just cancel Phil Jones contract to release extra funds A good servant of the Club, but no point occupying a place and all that salary.” – @juriprudence201

The Verdict: Wise move?

Scholes believes that Pellistri deserves more minutes at Old Trafford, however, his age and lack of first-team experience could mean that another loan would be the right idea in regards to his development.

He has registered just one assist in his last 41 senior appearances for Alaves and United, so you could say that he needs to produce more goals or assists over the next 12 months to make it at the top level.

It’ll be interesting to see where the South American may go on a temporary transfer in the summer in what could be a make-or-break season.

Should he star, then there may well be a real chance for Pellistri to make it at Old Trafford under Ten Hag, who currently has the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga as options out wide, showing that it is an area of the pitch that is already well stocked.

Phil Hay insists Leeds and Roca got away with big decision

Phil Hay was surprised that Leeds United’s fourth goal on Saturday was allowed to stand.

The Lowdown: VAR decisions go Leeds’ way

Leeds will have been thanking the VAR officials on Saturday as some big decisions went their way in the form of Junior Firpo not being penalised for fouling Nelson Semedo in the box, while Michael Salisbury decided that Roca hadn’t fouled Traore prior to Rodrigo’s late strike despite being sent to the monitor.

The latter decision was unlikely to impact the game as it was so late on, as Leeds were already leading and Wolves were down to 10 men following Jonny’s shocking challenge on Luke Ayling.

No matter if Leeds were comfortable or not, the difference between staying up and begin relegated this season could well come down to goal difference, and if Leeds stay up by one goal, this incident could be what saves them.

The Latest: Roca appeared to foul Traore

Hay has admitted on The Phil Hay Show that he feels Roca intended to foul Traore in the build-up to Rodrigo’s goal and it probably shouldn’t have stood.

He said: “In the way that I was certain that VAR would send Jonny off, I thought VAR would rule that goal out, and I thought when the referee went to the screen, he would probably do the same.

“I don’t actually have a problem with the fact that he hasn’t – and I mean that from a neutral sense, I didn’t think it was a particularly physical pull on Traore and the ball was still there for him to have it – but it was an attempted foul, without a doubt.”

The Verdict: Leeds ride their luck in a crucial game

Despite the result, had some refereeing decisions not gone Leeds’ way, they could have easily dropped points against Wolves and been a lot closer to the relegation zone than they currently are.

However, a win is a win and Leeds certainly took their chances by scoring four goals from their four shots on target, which shows they are starting to discover a clinical and ruthless nature under Javi Gracia.

Something that does still need to be improved upon is their defensive side of the game, with the Whites having kept just one clean sheet under their Spanish coach, so if they have dreams of staying in the division, keeping the ball out of their own net would be a good place to start.

Celtic: Starfelt happy at club ‘right now’

Celtic defender Carl Starfelt has admitted that he is happy with life in the Scottish Premiership ‘right now’ amid recent exit links.

The Lowdown: Attracting interest

The Hoops centre-back made the move to Parkhead from Rubin Kazan back in 2021 and he’s gone on to become a regular feature under Ange Postecoglou, making 75 appearances.

The Swedish international is currently the manager’s overall joint-second top-performing player with a match rating of 7.36, with his impressive displays having caught the eye south of the border.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the 27-year-old’s situation will be ‘one to watch’ in the summer with several unnamed English top-flight clubs monitoring him ahead of the upcoming window.

The Latest: Starfelt’s comments

Speaking during a recent interview with Fotbollskanalen, Starfelt was asked whether he would be keen on a move to England.

As quoted by The Daily Record, he revealed he’s very happy in Glasgow and his agent is taking care of things:

“No, I like it very much as it is right now. My agent will take care of the rest and then if something comes up, we’ll deal with it then. But I have no thoughts right now except for Celtic.

“It’s fantastic. Of course, it is something special to win great titles and it is something you really strive for as a football player. To be able to be at a club where it is expected of you and where it means so much to so many people is also incredible and a great feeling.

“We dominate in matches and get a lot of the ball. Defending high, and having a lot of play as well, I have had to develop many, many areas. It’s a big club where you are expected to win so you really have to push yourself to develop all the time.”

The Verdict: Great news for Ange

Starfelt has been dubbed a ‘cornerstone’ by Postecoglou himself so it’ll be great news for the boss to learn that his defender is committed to seeing out the project at Celtic.

The Bhoys star currently averages 4.8 aerial wins and 4.4 clearances per league gam,e showing his physical presence both on and off the ground whilst recording a 91.8% pass success rate, highlighting his calmness and composure when playing out from the back (WhoScored).

The Stockholm native has also netted two goals and provided one assist this season so is a threat in the final third when it comes to set pieces and picking a pass (Transfermarkt).

Starfelt’s contract isn’t set to expire until 2025 so the Hoops are in a strong negotiating position, but they should still do everything they can to keep hold of him beyond the summer.

Man United Sanction Move for £200k-p/w Star This Summer

Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold has sanctioned a potential deal for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, according to The Daily Star.

What’s the latest transfer news on Kane and Manchester United?

The Red Devils and Erik ten Hag have made a new forward one of their transfer priorities this summer and are seemingly interested in a move for England’s all-time record goalscorer.

Reports earlier this month claimed that United have already made contact with Kane’s camp through a third party and have been encouraged by the response. They believe they will sign the 29-year-old at the end of the current campaign, should Spurs finish outside the top four in the Premier League. A further transfer update has now emerged regarding the £200,000-a-week forward and a potential move to Old Trafford.

The Daily Star’s chief sports writer Jeremy Cross stated that Ten Hag has made Kane his No.1 priority this summer and that Arnold has sanctioned a deal. The club now look set to rival Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Chelsea in a possible £80m transfer, with Ten Hag believing that the forward would turn United into genuine title contenders next season.

Should Kane move to Old Trafford?

United appear to have lacked an out-and-out world-class striker this season, with Antony Martial suffering numerous injury issues and Wout Weghorst only arriving on loan until the end of the season back in January and is yet to score in the league.

Therefore, going after a player like Kane appears to be a wise move by Ten Hag and the club, with the Spurs star guaranteeing goals in recent seasons. He has scored 17 Premier League goals or more in each of his last nine campaigns and currently stands on 204 top-flight goals in 310 appearances.

He has been heavily praised over the years as a result, with former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte recently describing him as ‘world-class’. Kane also seemingly has one eye on breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record, something he could continue to look to achieve at Old Trafford.

You’d expect that he would be guaranteed chances in Ten Hag’s side as well, especially with Bruno Fernandes in behind, with the Portuguese playmaker creating 71 chances so far this season. Kane has also had more shots on target than any other Premier League player during the current campaign, scoring 21 times, so it’s easy to see why Ten Hag thinks he could take United to the next level.

Rangers’ "Excellent" 1998 Signing Would Solve Beale’s Problem.

Glasgow Rangers manager Michael Beale has endured an excellent start to life in the Ibrox hot seat, remaining unbeaten in the Premiership and losing just once since December.

His team have clicked and been bolstered by the additions of Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell in January so next season could be wonderful, especially if he can strengthen in the summer.

One area that badly needs rejuvenating is in the goalkeeper department, with Allan McGregor conceding 41 goals and Jon McLaughlin conceding 18 across all competitions this term.

With a combined age of 76, it's time that the duo are moved on and someone younger is brought in who can establish themselves as the new number one.

It is a conundrum that will have Beale scratching his head as to who he should sign to take over from the pair, and it could be a search that continues all through the summer.

If only he had the opportunity to utilise a former Gers 'keeper who will surely go down as one of the finest in the club’s vast history – Stefan Klos.

Is Stefan Klos a Rangers icon?

The German enjoyed both domestic and European success at Borussia Dortmund between 1990 and 1998, winning two Bundesliga titles along with the 1997 Champions League, firmly establishing himself as one of the best shot-stoppers on the continent.

When Dick Advocaat arrived at Rangers in the summer of 1998, he had money to spend and plenty of it, although he had to wait until near Christmas to lure Klos away from the Bundesliga, ending a near year-long interest in the player.

He was certainly worth the wait, becoming the undisputed number one and winning a league title and Scottish Cup in his first six months, before repeating the feat the season after.

Former Rangers goalkeeper Stefan Klos.

His performances earned him the playful nickname ‘Der Goalie’ which was a reference to former Gers hero Andy Goram, and he went on to enjoy his finest season during the treble-winning campaign of 2002/03, appearing in all but one match as the club endured one of the best seasons in their history.

He was still going strong into 2005, however, a serious knee injury suffered in training ensured he missed the title run-in and was limited to just a handful of games after, finally retiring in 2007.

Dubbed “excellent” by the official Rangers Twitter page, only McGregor has come close to succeeding the German in terms of ability and if Beale had a prime Klos at his disposal in the present day, the Light Blues would undeniably have an excellent chance of winning back the Premiership title.

Crystal Palace’s £40m "Baller" Wanted By PL Rivals

Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise is being monitored by Premier League rivals Arsenal ahead of a potential move to the Emirates Stadium, according to reports.

What's the latest on Olise's future?

The Eagles have secured back-to-back victories in two relegation six-pointers and have bridged a six-point gap between themselves and the drop zone, but should they end up going down to the second tier this season, they may need to cash in on some of their most prized assets.

French youth international Olise arrived at Selhurst Park from Reading back in 2021 and has since gone on to make 63 appearances across all competitions. His contract is not set to expire for another three years, but being his side’s second-best-performing player with a match rating of 6.92 (as per WhoScored), it appears he has caught the eye of Mikel Arteta.

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal are “interested” in signing Olise, with the Gunners boss a “big fan” of Palace’s talisman. The Spaniard believes that the 21-year-old “ticks all the boxes” when it comes to his age, cost and resale potential, and views him as the perfect backup to Bukayo Saka.

The Eagles would be looking to receive “at least” £40m to sanction his sale due to his contract situation, and whilst they are under no pressure to let him go, it’s stated that if the “right offer” was put on the table, it would be “hard to turn down”. The SE25 outfit could reduce their asking price to £35m if they get relegated – while they might not be helped by the fact that the winger is a self-proclaimed fan of his reported admirers.

Crystal Palace midfielder Michael Olise.

Should Palace keep or sell Olise?

Olise has been dubbed a “baller” at Crystal Palace by journalist Muhammad Butt, and given the significant impact he has on the team, we think the hierarchy need to do everything they can to fend off interest and retain his services beyond the summer.

The Hammersmith-born talent has posted ten goal contributions (eight assists and two goals) in 29 Premier League games this season, which has seen him earn the highest WhoScored match rating on four separate occasions, making him a standout performer at Selhurst Park.

The Nike-sponsored star has also whipped 165 crosses into the box so far this term and recorded 103 shot-creating actions – 4.56 per game – which is higher than any other member of Hodgson’s squad, via FBref, so even the thought of losing him is likely to be a huge blow to the supporters and whoever would be tasked with replacing him over the summer.
